EDDC/Suez Resource Recycling Centre (RRC) Trip 12th June 2019

Today Councillors with an interest in waste and recycling went along for a trip around East Devon’s RRC at Greendale. What an eye opener – even just turning into the Greendale site took my breath away – the sheer size of the industrial site is staggering. East Devon/Suez just have a little bit of it, Read more about EDDC/Suez Resource Recycling Centre (RRC) Trip 12th June 2019[…]

Community Clean Up, (SAS Summit To Sea) April 6th 2019

48 wonderful people came along to throw everything at Woolbrook today. We met at the Youth Centre, and a big thank you to Ben for hosting and getting fully involved too. For 2 hours from 10 o’clock we litter picked, chopped back weeds, pulled up ivy, walked several miles and put a huge amount of Read more about Community Clean Up, (SAS Summit To Sea) April 6th 2019[…]

No Butts ‘Competition’, from Dukes, Sidmouth March 23rd 2019

Not surprisingly, we didn’t have a big crowd for this not-very-attractive test that Anna B and I came up with. We ran a little competition, with the help of Louise from Becketts Coffee Shop who donated a prize of tea & cake for 2, to see if we could highlight where the worst areas were Read more about No Butts ‘Competition’, from Dukes, Sidmouth March 23rd 2019[…]

Jessica’s clean up – 9th March 2019

A post went up on Sidmouth Plastic Warriors’ Facebook page by ‘Roger Lou’, as follows: “My 8 year old daughter is organising by herself a litter pick around the football and rugby pitches along the Sidford end of The Byes. If anyone would like to come and support it would be great. She has no Read more about Jessica’s clean up – 9th March 2019[…]

Beach Clean – Sidmouth 23rd February 2019

Thank you, you beauties! About 75 people collected 4 full non-recyclable bags and 1 each of glass, plastic and tins. And the interesting bottle in the photos Read more about Beach Clean – Sidmouth 23rd February 2019[…]

Beach Clean – Sidmouth Saturday January 5th 10.30am

(This is the write up I did for the Herald so if it’s a bit general that’s why) I headed down to the beach for this month’s beach clean, wrapped in many layers as it was freezing! I thought the weather would put people off but the warm welcome from the staff at the Marine, Read more about Beach Clean – Sidmouth Saturday January 5th 10.30am[…]

SAS Regional Rep Conference, Cardiff, Oct 13th 2018

I visited Cardiff last weekend (13th Oct 18) as Sidmouth’s Regional Rep for Surfers Against Sewage, as they invited all of the reps for a conference, from Friday 6pm to Saturday 4pm. I drove up after work but got very lost so unfortunately missed most of the Friday evening (including the CEO of Iceland Foods) Read more about SAS Regional Rep Conference, Cardiff, Oct 13th 2018[…]

Monday 3rd September – Plastic Free Devon Meeting

I was invited along to a Community Workshop run by the Environment Agency on 3rd Sept and have been admonished for not making this a public blog, so apologies for the delay but let me summarise the day (at least what I remember of it after a month and a half). It was held at Read more about Monday 3rd September – Plastic Free Devon Meeting[…]

Beach Clean Sept 15th 2018

What a fantastic turnout for the Clean Up we jointly organised for us, Surfers Against Sewage, the Marine Conservation Society and World Clean Up Day! Around 75 people came along, and particularly great about that were the number of enthusiastic children who are totally engaged with the concept of ocean plastic – some of them Read more about Beach Clean Sept 15th 2018[…]
